Acid Block is a combination of nutrients designed to provide relief from intermittent heartburn and occasional indigestion: slippery elm and deglycyrrhized licorice (DGL), which act as demulcents, creating a protective film to soothe the alimentary canal, and sodium alginate and alginic acid to protect against stomach acid.

DGL may help address certain symptoms associated with minor peptic ulcers or acid reflux by working to coat and soothe the tissues in the stomach and intestines. Slippery elm provides mucilage as well as antioxidants, which may work to alleviate some signs of mild inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Sodium alginate and alginic acid, derived from brown algae, could potentially act to protect the lining of your esophagus from excess stomach acid. Alginic acid and sodium alginate are most effective when taken after a meal.
